My Kids Love A Good Mosh Pit
Tonight we took our kids to the indoor playground at the local mall.
AKA: The Toddler Mosh Pit.
I HATE taking my kids to this playground.
It is just a bunch of grotty kids running around like crazy, unsupervised monkeys.
So why did we take our kids? Well… it is pretty hot and we needed an air conditioned playground to take them to so we could run the hyper right out of them. (read: We want them to sleep tonight.)
Tonight at the Mosh Pit Helene found herself smack dab in the middle of a young boy’s first crush. Yeah. She is not even TWO yet.
This mini Romeo started chasing her around the playground trying to pick her up to hug and kiss her. Uh. There will be no kissing while Mama is watching thank you very much.
This kid was easily two years her senior and my little lady looked highly uncomfortable by the attentions of an older man.
Hey. I didn’t blame her. The scene took me back in time when I was the one being chased around by stupid boys. I always hated it. I can still feel the fear that would permeate my chest every time that I realized that a chase was soon to begin. I would run so fast that eventually my feet couldn’t keep up with my will to flee those dumb boys and I would fall and skin my knees. Then it would be only a few seconds before the unwanted kisses would ensue. ~shudder~ (Yes. I am aware that I need a therapist on speed dial.)
I wanted to tell Helene’s Romeo to beat it, but I humored him for a bit until I decided that the crush needed to be crushed. Helene looked pretty uncomfortable and was actively trying to leave the area. I wanted to leave the Mosh Pit anyway so really, it was perfect timing.
I felt bad for dashing a young man’s hopes and dreams like that, but the relief on Helene’s face told me that I had done the right thing.
Poor Romeo.
I mean really. Who could blame him for falling for this beauty?

Nathan has an admirer at church- I finally had to ask the primary pres to put him in the other class so she would leave him alone. He likes her- but she’s always hugging on him & wanting to kiss him- even after he tells her to stop. We all (us, her parents & primary pres) had a talk- but now we’re moving- issue solved! As for a “mosh pit” I agree– grotty kids- ugh! Glad you saved her- and she is a doll. But no loves till she’s at least 3.5
With her beautiful eyes she will always have the boys chasing her! She is a beauty! You have such a wonderful way with words. I love reading here!
She is absolutely beautiful…watch out when she gets to her teen years. Be sure to have a baseball bat handy
What a cute heartbreaker!
The little girl down the street has a crush on my nephew… It’s cute and sweet up to a point. Seriously though, Helene is going to break a lot of hearts, she better get used to that sort of thing!
I can see why he would have a crush on her!
My son is 10 and the other day we were taking a family bike ride and passed by two girls around the ages of 9-12. They instantly did a double take as my son passed them and nearly fell of their bikes looking after him. He didn’t even notice anything. My darling boy is still oblivious to female attention. It reminded me of all the things to come.
she is such a doll! Plenty of time for breaking hearts when she’s a little older.
She’s a beauty…you have years of fighting off boys…get a gun!
Oh btw: I’m blogrolling you, don’t know what took me so long! I love your site!!
Your daughter is absolutely positively GORGEOUS. I mean honestly just beautiful.
I had a similar thing happen at the park only my daughter didn’t mind. ~sigh~ He gave her a flower (she’s 3) and she LOVED it. That made me panic and cry and laugh and it was AWFUL.
I’m going to go lay down now.
Oh, my! He wasn’t just crushing on her; he was stalking her! She’s going to break some hearts when she’s older!
Ack! The utter gorgeousness!
Helene is a gorgeous girl. I don’t blame Romeo.
How adorable! Aw, the days when boys chased girls around… if only all relationships were like the ones we had when we were two…
